CATS launches brand new UK tour in Manchester this November
A brand new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS launches its major UK tour in Manchester before visiting cities across Britain.
One of the world’s most famous musicals is heading back on tour, with a completely new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS opening in Manchester this November.
The production begins at the Palace Theatre Manchester on 10 November and runs there until 21 November. It then travels to Bristol and Glasgow before continuing around the UK during 2027, with Sunderland, Oxford, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Woking and Milton Keynes among the cities already confirmed.
CATS is the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical built around T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. Rather than following a conventional single storyline, it introduces a collection of distinctive characters who gather for the Jellicle Ball as one of them prepares to be chosen for a new life.
Even people who have never seen CATS will probably recognise its most famous song, Memory. The score also includes Macavity, The Mystery Cat and the Jellicle Ball, helping the production become one of the most recognisable musicals in theatre history.
This is not simply the old touring production returning again. The new version is directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, the acclaimed British choreographer and director whose recent work includes Brigadoon and Jesus Christ Superstar.
The production originated at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre before being prepared for its major UK and Ireland tour. Manchester gets the first touring performances, making the city the starting point for the production’s next chapter.
After Manchester, CATS heads to Bristol from 24 to 28 November before spending much of December at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. More cities then follow from January through June 2027.
Where to see CATS
CATS plays Manchester’s Palace Theatre from 10 to 21 November, Bristol Hippodrome from 24 to 28 November and Glasgow’s Theatre Royal from 8 to 27 December. The wider tour continues across Britain throughout 2027.
Official tickets are available through the individual theatres and ATG.
