Blue Murder Motel Heads to ITVX as Hit Crime Drama Gets UK Release Date
Blue Murder Motel is coming to ITVX and ITV3 in October, starring Michala Banas and Brett Tucker in the New Zealand crime drama.
ITV has acquired Blue Murder Motel, bringing the New Zealand crime drama to UK viewers on 4 October. The series will air on ITV3 and will also be available to stream on ITVX.
The story centres on married Australian police detectives Vinny and Cole, who decide to leave their careers behind and start a completely different life. They invest in a charming 13 room motel in the fictional New Zealand beachside town of Mōwai Bay, hoping their days of investigating crime are finally over.
That plan lasts only a few weeks. A dead body is discovered inside Unit 3, pulling the couple straight back into detective work as they help inexperienced local constable Jamie investigate the killing.
A new murder mystery every week
The discovery is only the beginning, with Vinny and Cole becoming involved in a new murder investigation each week.
The combination of a sunny coastal setting, married former detectives and regular mysteries gives the series a lighter spin on the traditional crime drama.
Michala Banas, known for McLeod’s Daughters and Halifax: Retribution, stars alongside Brett Tucker, whose credits include The Residence, Station 19 and The Americans. Jayden Daniels, Stephanie Tauevihi and Jaime McDermott also appear.
Blue Murder Motel begins on ITV3 and ITVX on 4 October.
