Alan Carr joins The Masked Singer UK as surprise new panellist for 2027 series
ITV has confirmed Alan Carr is joining The Masked Singer UK for the 2027 series, leading a brand new Wild Cards detective team against the existing panel.
Alan Carr is officially joining The Masked Singer UK, with ITV confirming the award winning comedian and broadcaster will take his place on the panel for the show’s upcoming 2027 series.
The much loved presenter is set to bring a fresh twist to the hit entertainment show by leading a brand new team of detectives known as the Wild Cards, taking on the existing panel in a battle to uncover the celebrities hiding behind the elaborate costumes.
Rather than replacing any of the current judges, Alan and his team will compete directly against the established detective line up of Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross, who are now collectively known as the Legends.
The rivalry promises to introduce a completely new dynamic to one of ITV’s biggest entertainment programmes, with both teams attempting to outguess each other across the series before one is crowned The Masked Singer’s best detectives of 2027.
Alan said he was thrilled to be joining the show, joking:
“I can’t wait to play detective, so excited to be shouting ‘take it off’ in the actual studio rather than on my settee at home. A dream come true.”
His quick wit, infectious laugh and years of television experience made him a popular guest panellist in the past, making this a natural next step as he officially joins the programme.
Joel Dommett will also return as host, overseeing another series packed with mystery celebrities, spectacular performances and imaginative new costumes as viewers once again try to work out who is behind the masks.
ITV says the upcoming series will feature a brand new cast of “bold and beautiful characters”, with Alan’s arrival expected to add an extra competitive edge to proceedings thanks to the introduction of the Wild Cards.
The broadcaster also highlighted the continued popularity of the programme, revealing that The Masked Singer has reached more than 12 million viewers this year, including 1.4 million viewers aged 16 to 34.
ITV’s Director of Entertainment, Reality and Daytime, Katie Rawcliffe, welcomed Alan to the show, saying:
“We are thrilled to welcome Alan Carr to The Masked Singer. His wit and energy are the perfect addition to our new ‘rival panel’ and we can’t wait for viewers to see the sparks fly.”
Produced by Bandicoot Scotland, the series remains one of ITV’s biggest entertainment successes and continues to attract huge audiences with its blend of music, mystery and celebrity guessing.
Alan’s addition is likely to be welcomed by long time fans, with his previous appearances demonstrating his enthusiasm for the format and his ability to bounce off the existing panel. The new team versus team concept also offers the biggest format shake up since the programme first launched in the UK.
The Masked Singer has become one of ITV’s flagship entertainment brands, regularly generating social media discussion as viewers try to identify the famous faces beneath the masks. With Alan Carr now joining the line up, the next series looks set to deliver even more laughs alongside the mystery.
The Masked Singer will return to ITV1 and ITVX in 2027.
