Agatha Christie murder mystery extends into 2027 as new cast takes over London courtroom
Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution has extended its London run into 2027, with a brand new cast taking over the courtroom drama.
One of London’s most unusual murder mysteries is staying around for another year, with Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution extending its run into September 2027.
The production will also welcome its 16th cast from September 22, as Matthew McGivern and Sophie Craig take over the central roles of Leonard Vole and Romaine Vole.
Rather than unfolding on a traditional theatre stage, the long-running production transforms the historic council chamber inside London County Hall into a courtroom, placing audiences directly inside Christie’s murder trial.
A murder trial unfolds around the audience

Witness for the Prosecution centres on Leonard Vole, who finds himself accused of murdering a wealthy widow.
His future appears to depend on the testimony of his wife Romaine, but the case quickly becomes more complicated as evidence emerges and the courtroom drama begins to twist in unexpected directions.
Joining McGivern and Craig in the new company is Jude Owusu as Mr Myers QC and David Shaw-Parker as Mr Justice Wainwright.
Jo Stone-Fewings returns as Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC, while Crispin Redman continues as Mr Mayhew.
Almost a decade inside London County Hall
The production first opened at County Hall in 2017 and has turned its unusual location into a major part of the experience.
Some ticket holders can even sit inside the jury box, putting them just feet away from the action as Leonard’s fate is decided.
The latest extension means the production is now booking until September 19, 2027, taking it towards ten years at its London home.
For anyone planning a London theatre trip over the coming year, there is now plenty more time to step inside Christie’s courtroom and watch the mystery unfold.
