ITVs Adultery’s new first look introduces an affair with an especially painful complication. The two married parents at its centre are drawn to each other while their teenage children are already dating.
Dominic Cooper plays Tom, whose 15-year-old daughter Jess is in a relationship with schoolmate Ollie. Romola Garai plays Ollie’s mother Beth, and an unexpected meeting between the parents sparks an attraction that threatens both families.
The preview, shared on 28 September, includes Tom and Beth embracing in a lake. It offers a glimpse of the relationship at the heart of the six-part ITV drama.
Shelley Conn plays Tom’s wife Hannah, while Matthew McNulty plays Beth’s husband Neil. The affair forces Tom and Beth to face the consequences of their desires for their spouses and children.
The series comes from Danny Brocklehurst, the writer behind Fool Me Once and Brassic. Alongside the romance, the story explores grief, class and the effects of social media.
Dominic’s previous roles include Preacher and The Devil’s Double, while Romola’s credits include Vigil and One Life. They lead a story in which two generations of the same families are caught up in relationships with very different consequences.
Former Emmerdale star Charley Webb plays Tom’s sister-in-law Leah, with James Murray as his brother Paul.
Adultery launches in October 2026 on ITV1 and STV, with streaming on ITVX and STV Player. The exact premiere date and broadcast time have not yet been announced.
