9 to 5 returns to US cinemas with restored version of Dolly’s classic

Dolly’s 9 to 5 is heading back to US cinemas in a restored version, giving audiences another chance to see the workplace comedy on the big screen. The limited engagement runs from October 9 to October 15, with tickets already on sale.

The screenings will also support Dolly’s work helping children access books. Disney will donate its net proceeds from US ticket sales to The Dollywood Foundation in support of the Imagination Library, which provides free books to children around the world.

That donation comes after deductions, including the cinema operators’ share and distribution, marketing and administrative expenses. It does not mean the entire price of each ticket goes to the foundation.

The September 25 announcement coincided with the first Give Like Dolly Day. The annual celebration encourages people to support children in their communities, extending the charitable purpose behind the cinema release.
